Time for you cowboys to tie your horse up and take it easy in the saloon as we are looking at the last stop on our way to Red Dead Redemption 2!
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Red Dead Redemption was a monster of a hit and quite shortly after it was released, we got wind of a huge DLC expansion, Undead Nightmare which would bring the undead to the Wild West! To say this new got people excited is a huge understatement and as amazing as Red Dead Redemption was it was this news that made more than a few people decide to buy it.
Undead Nightmare once against sees players take the role of John Marston, who you even get to play as a zombie which is pretty cool. The story of the game is pretty cool and sees John having to travel to the different towns in the game to keep the number of zombies down. You will also have to do various missions for other people as you try to figure out what the hell is going on and how you can stop it. One of the coolest features of the game is that you can find and tame the four horses of the apocalypse.
RockStar did an amazing job with this DLC! They went in and did a ton of work on the visuals so while you instantly recognize them all from Red Dead Redemption they have been given a sinister coating of paint, which with the permanent darkness and bad weather gives the whole game an eerie kind of feeling
As well as the main story, Undead Nightmare also had two multiplayer modes which were well received. These are called Land Grab and Undead Overrun.
Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was a huge hit, so much so that RockStar actually released the game on its own, at a budget price of course.
As you know here at Mods R Us, our modded controllers are perfect for those who love first person shooters. When it comes to first person shooters, Overwatch is one of the very best and most popular released in the last decade! Blizzard absolutely nailed it with Overwatch and today, we want to look at why that is.
To start with Overwatch has more personality and style than the majority of other first person shooters on the market. Blizzard did a wonderful job in creating a very interesting cast of characters. Each one with their own backstory and play style, plus charming personality. It makes it very easy for a player to gravitate to a couple of different characters and stick with them.
While the characters and setting of Overwatch are of course awesome. The gameplay is the real draw here. The game modes are what you would expect. But it is the core gameplay that has sucked so many people into the world of Overwatch. It is so easy to pick up and play, but there can be a lot of depth here, especially if you are willing to work as part of a team and play your role. But at the same time, you can totally just lone wolf it and run around shooting everything you see!
Overwatch has also been awesome in regards to DLC. Blizzard has really supported the game very well and so far the characters they have added have all been added for free which is great. Plus they have these special events like Junkenstien’s Revenge and The Summer Games which make the game even more fun.
Blizzard has a monster hit on their hands with Overwatch and we really cannot wait to see what they have in store for the next Overwatch game!
We are helping you keep those cops and drug cartels at bay as we continue on with our Grand Theft Auto Retrospective!
Grand Theft Auto Vice City (2002,2003) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox
How could RockStar possibly top GTA 3? Well they found a way as Grand Theft Auto Vice City was even more successful and critically acclaimed than 3! This game was once again in full 3D, but this time the world was much larger and felt more alive. A huge part of this was the increase in NPC’s as well as side missions that the player could do.
The real draw of Grand Theft Auto Vice City is the setting. It is set in the 80’s and this was back in 2002, before it was cool to set everything in the 80’s. The fashion, the music and just the tone of the game is full on 80’s and RockStar used things like Scarface and Miami Vice as well as many real world events from the 80’s to help craft the story of Tommy Vercetti getting out of jail and slowly, but surely starting to become a drug and crime king pin in Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto Vice City was just such a fun game. The controls felt a little tigher in the driving sections and even in the general gameplay with the auto aim working very well to make it easier to shoot who you actually want to shoot.
Vice City is one of the most fondly remembered games in the GTA series. Sure the 80’s setting plays a big part in this, but the story is well written and a lot of fun to play through. The game was released first on PlayStation 2 in 2002, before coming to Xbox in a double pack with GTA 3 and also on PC.
Today we are once again look back on the history of one of the biggest game series of all time, Grand Theft Auto!
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (2004,2005) PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox
When it comes to this era of Grand Theft Auto games it is fair to say that San Andreas is probably the most loved. Released first on PlayStation 2 in 2004, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas would go on to be one of the biggest selling games on the PlayStation 2 and one of the most critically acclaimed as well.
This time the game was set in the 1990’s and you played the role of CJ who comes home after his mother’s funeral (she was murdered) to find his family in a mess. CJ tries to get his old gang back, has run in with crooked cops and ends up in trouble with the gang war that is going on in San Andreas. The riots and gang wars of the 1990’s are a huge influence on the game and in general, the story has a lot of twists and turns and at the time it was the most story driven of the GTA games.
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas was huge! The map was absolutely massive and there was just so much to do in San Andreas. You could spend hours exploring the map, taking on side quests and finding all kinds of weird stuff. RockStar also added in some RPG elements to the game where you could actually tinker with CJ’s appearance.
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is one of the most popular games in the whole GTA series. The following year it would be released on Xbox and PC. But the game is so popular that it would even be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and even mobile devices.
As you know here at Mods “R” Us, we are huge fans of Overwatch and the last couple of days there has been some pretty neat Overwatch news and we wanted to talk a little bit about it.
Overwatch Reversing Player Bans
Some unlucky people have found themselves banned from competitive play even though they did nothing wrong. It has so far affected around 200 Overwatch players, but do not freak out as Blizzard has said it is a small bug and they are on it. Anyone who has been banned during this time is going to be looked after and have their account reinstated. People who had never left a game early or done anything offensive had reported they had been banned from playing! Blizzard then came out and confirmed that it was a bug, well at least we now know they are fixing it.
Cool Overwatch Figures Coming Later This Year
We think the Overwatch Funko Pop figures are awesome. But just recently it was revealed that in October there is going to be a new line of Overwatch figures. These are part of the Cute But Deadly line and they look awesome. They are super cute, but also pretty badass looking. These are going to be blind box mini figures, there is going to be 12 characters in this first series and if you want our opinion, Lucio, D.Va, and McCree are the coolest. We hope that since they are blind boxes that someone figures out what the codes on each box are so we can get the figures we want.
